"VERY GOOD" in 'saldo' test for Fanjo Coconut Shower Gel
In its issue no. 2 dated 6 February 2008, the Swiss consumer magazine 'saldo' had the ingredients of 14 shower gels tested. No fault was found with 8 products. Two products, however, contain a cocktail of questionable substances.
There are questionable ingredients in some shower gels, as the 'saldo' text shows. 'saldo' had the 14 products tested in Hamburg for aromatic substances and other ingredients by the laboratory Wiertz-Eggert-Jörissen. These included formaldehyde and its extracts, which are suspected of causing cancer, as well as the poorly degradable musk combinations.
Proprietary brands of major distributors and an ecological product were also examined in addition to the top-selling gels (see box below).
Fanjo Coconut Shower Gel, which is available in Migros for CHF 3.80, was awarded the highest mark in the overall rating of ‘VERY GOOD’. The shower gel does not contain any of the ingredients and aromatic substances that were criticised.
